December 24, 2012
For those who came to yesterday's celebration, thank you for coming.
You truly made it a most special Christmas party.
For those who couldn't make it, whether it was due to distance, health, or other plans, thank you for your support and prayers.

I especially want to thank my friend Arthur, who started a prayer/fasting movement within the church for me in my direst moments. Without him, I doubt that word would have gotten out about my situation. So thank you, Arthur. You've been an inspiration to all of us.

To be honest, I often forget the condition of my health. I don't really feel lik
e someone with cancer; I'm often told that I don't even look like a hospital patient, much less one who has received at least a hundred doses of heavy chemotherapy. I truly believe it is by God's grace that I am still alive. Usually you would only hear those words from people who've done reckless things (cough EpicMealTime cough), but I really believe that somehow, God will turn my unfortunate condition into something beautiful. Eventually, all of this will be used for God's glory; we just don't know how or when. Until then, we just have to wait in faith.

Dear prayer warriors,

I've been thinking to write the update to let you know the result of Wednesday bone marrow biopsy.
Since the report was not good, it made me hard to write something to tell you guys about it.
Some of might have read that Brian post on his Facebook "Pray for Brian"As below..........................

Brian Liu                                                          5:43pm Dec 6
December 6, 2012 [Day +59 post-chemo]

The bone marrow aspirate and biopsy yesterday showed that leukemia cells are still present in my body. However, today, after two months of being in the hospital, I can finally go home. The doctors feel like I've been here for far too long (two months, since October), so they want me to go home and relax for a while. At the present moment, the plan (that I've heard so far) is to come back on Monday to see the doctor, and that's all I know for now. When I found out that there were still cancer cells in my body, I reacted much differently than I thought I would. That is to say, I didn't really react. The emotions one would expect me to feel, I didn't. I really, really don't want to care about all this anymore. It's too stressful to have to deal with all this; it can't be healthy. These past few days my devotionals are all saying that God is sovereign, and to "cast our worries upon Him". Whether coincidence or not, that is actually good advice during times like this, that when everything is beyond our control, ought not waste our time worrying, but instead hand it all over to Him who can actually do something about your worries. We may not always know WHY something happens, but the sovereign Lord knows what he's doing. He won't give up on you, and neither should you give up on Him. Stay in faith, and your reward will come eventually.

With your continuing prayer, Brian is strong and uptimistic in spirit and "faith".
His response to the result supports all of us.
We thanks God to grand him this strong faith to encourage us.

We are home now. Brian is doing good, joyful as always and has good appetite.
He made a handmade pizza with daddy for dinner tonight.
Family movie night--"Brave!!".

On Monday, we will discuss with Dr. Gaynon what to do next.
Please keep praying for us.
As always, we believe " God's thought is higher than ours."
May God grand us the wisdom to make the best decision.
We keep believing and trust His best plan for Brian.

Here is a message from Joel Osteen that I got few days ago. Share with you.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
(Proverbs 16:9, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Oftentimes, God will use our experiences in life as stepping stones to prepare us for what He has in store next. Scripture tells us that He’ll even take the things the enemy tries to bring against us and turn them around and use them for our good. He is always leading us on a journey of preparation.
That’s why it’s so important to keep our eyes focused on Him. We have to trust that when we are submitted to Him — even if we don’t understand — He is ordering our steps. If something is not happening on your timetable, remind yourself, “God knows what He is doing. He has my best interest at heart. God is preparing me.” While you’re waiting, don’t make the mistake of trying to figure everything out. If you’re constantly trying to figure things out, that will only frustrate you. Turn it over to God. Declare, “God, my times are in Your hands. I’m not going to worry because I trust that You are leading me on a journey of preparation for all the wonderful blessings You have in store for me.”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in Brian's life. I trust that You are leading and guiding Brian. I trust that You are preparing Brian for all the wonderful blessings You have in store for Brian in Jesus’ name. Amen.

請継續用您的禱告扶持我們。
也請繼續為我們的主治醫師 Dr. Gaynon. 下週一我們將和他開會.
求 主應許他用最智慧,最隹良方來醫治Brian.
更求 主給我們啟示做最明智的抉擇. 繼續相信並等候 祂醫治的時間表.

God bless us all,

As I mentioned few days ago, today will be the day for another bone marrow biopsy for Brian again.
It will be a very criticle report for BMT doctors to make good decision and plan for Brian.

Please keep praying for the good BM result, no leukemia cell.
Pray for BMT team ( Dr. Shah, Dr. Kapoor, Dr. Chris, Dr. Hisham) to work on the transplant with the
wisdom from God.

Thank you.

Dear prayer warriors,

Thanks for your prayers and praising the Lord!

 The bone marrow biopsy report shows no leukemia cell.

Here is the plan now........

It's a criticle moment for doctors to make a decision for a successful transplant.

For Brian's bone marrow just recover and started to produce cells. The sample they got this Wednesday is few ( even though they are more than last 2 weeks). They decided to stop 2 days GCSF( a shot to boost cell production) and have another biopsy next Wednesday to get a more acurate result.

I still remembered yesterday around 3pm. Dr. Gaynon came to the room and told us that the fish report show 85% Vivian's cell and 15% Brian's cell. There are some immature cells on the sample. But they couldn't define they are good or bad. He said ( not happily), " Let's see Monday. It will have more detail report."

But you know what? Dr. Gaynon came again (with his suitcase, coat, and umbrella) to the room before he went home to tell us this good news. He said, " I just got the MRD report, it a very reliable report, it shows no leukemia cell at all." Halelujah! Thank you Dr. Gaynon to bring us a good weekend.

Brian still got transfused a bag of platelet today for the platelet fuction needs more time to grow stronger.

We still need more platelet donor more than blood. Any blood type is OK. But please drink more water the day before you come to donate it. It needs good circulation to process it. Thanks.

Please keep praying for

1. The good report too for the next Wednesday Bone marrow biopsy.

2. The best plan for a successful transplant.

3. Pray for Brian and Vivian stay healthy without any infection.

4. Pray for Mark and Anita to be strong and healthy to take care the kids.

5. Pray for all of you to stay the strong faith as usual to fight the good fight with us.

God bless us all,

Mark & Anita

Thank you.

God bless us all,

Thanks for your prayers.
Today is after chemo day 50.
Brian's white cell count rises gradually from 0.12K( 11/16/2012) to 0.22K (today).
For his platelet and HGB still low, he got 2 bogs of blood and 1 bag of platelet today.
Yesterday, the hospital blood donation cente called to our room and asked for more donation from friends.
For bloods O and A blood type are good, any type of platelet is ok.
Let me know if you are able to donate and have any question.
Or call 323-361-2370 George Merida. Thank you.

They will test Brian's bone marrow aspirated and biopsy tomorrow.
Please pray for the favorite result with no bad cell on the report.
Pray for his good cells keep recovering well.

Hi there! I know I haven't been updating as frequently as I used to, but like I said before, a boring stay in the hospital is a good stay! I don't wanna bore you guys with the details of what I do every day. Either that or I'm getting lazier with each passing day… -3-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I felt like the Lord was speaking to me about faith. In 2 Kings 13, Elisha, on his deathbed, wanted to bless Joash, the king of Israel at the time, and told him to pick up his bow and send arrows into the ground. Joash did so, but only 3 times, and no more.
Yes, he did what was asked of him, but not whole-heartedly. He did only as much as his faith allowed him to. Yes, he did receive blessing, but it wasn't all of what God had originally planned for him. God is infinitely powerful, but he is still limited by our faith, or lack thereof.
⋯⋯
I don't want partial healing, or even "mostly healed"; I want to be healed completely, forever free of this disease. I want a normal life, one that all 18-year-olds should have, which does NOT involve being a patient in the hospital, receiving treatment for a life-threatening disease. I have to have faith in God 100% that he will heal me completely.
Sometimes God tells us to do something but doesn't give us the details. When this happens, we should wholeheartedly and enthusiastically give it our all. Don't just stop at one, or two, but keep shooting arrows into the ground until you run out of arrows or when He tells you to stop.
I will be that persistent archer, shooting arrows until the Lord tells me to stop.
Dear prayer warriors,
Today is chemo 38. Brian is doing good. Still waiting for his blood count recovery in CHLA.
Thanks for many of you coming to donate your blood and platelet for him.
His HGB is low, they will give him transfusion tomorrow morning.
The biopsy of that nodule on the side of finger is ok. No bad information, probably just skin irritation.
The bone marrow aspirate & LP yesterday were doing well. The preliminary report came out yesterday afternoon.
No leukemia cell. The more detail report will be ready in couple days.
Dr. Gaynon is happy. I met him 3 times today and kept bugging him with questions. I asked him the schedule for next step.  The rough plan now is ...........
Apparently, another bone marrow test will be done again next week. For that time the bone marrow should have more cells to see.
If the report came out good, the transplant will be next step. Then it means no more oncology chemo.
This afternoon, Dr. Gaynon came to the room while the ID (infection disease ) Dr. Ross was talking to Brian and said " You're looking good". Dr. Gaynon replied, " Yes, he always lookoing good even we threw the toughest stuff at him, he bounced right back".  Then 3 of them exchanged jokes. It's kind of habit or culture between Brian & Dr. Gaynon since Feb. 2011. What a binding relationship.!
I'm glad to hear Dr. Gaynon told me,"We are lucky, by God's grace. Brian still doing well with such strong chemotherapy".
Amen! It's all by your prayers and God's protection. God is good!
Please keep praying for this test result and next week BM test are all good ( no leukemia cell).
Pray for Brian's blood count recover soon and well.
Pray for Brian's body can tolerate next treatment plan.
Pray for Vivian's health and getting ready for her stem cells donation.
Successful transplantion.
God bless us all,
Mark & Anita
As soon as you read this email. Please pray right away.
Pray for the result will be favorite and glorify Lord's name. Only good cell, no bad cell any more.
Brian wrote this post on his facebook last night before he went to bed. Share with you.
Brian Liu November 13, 2012
Kim, my occupational therapist from the very beginning, seems to view me as one of her greatest accomplishments, as she played a very important part in my recovery. She is giving a presentation about how occupational and physical therapists can help with the quick recovery of a patient (or something like that) to students-in-training at USC. My testimony will be showing therapists that they can make a difference in someone's life. My life, is about to benefit, who knows how many other lives? Kim also interviewed me briefly, asking me what my next goal is.
"My next goal?" i replied. "My next goal is to ride a unicycle around my college campus."
"And what college is that?"
"Hmmmm.... MtSac."
"Whaaat??? You were supposed to say USC!!!"
"...Sorry..."
Tomorrow I will have a bone marrow aspirate and spinal tap done. This means that tonight I will be NPO. Three letters that, when put together in that sequence, become the least favorite phrase for a growing boy like me to hear. >:(
At least they have me scheduled early, at 10 (in the morning, I hope).
Please pray that no leukemia cells are found and that this chemo was successful.
The way the doctor sees it, everything looks good, and he expects nothing less than good news tomorrow. Hallelujah!
They will also be removing the stitches from Wednesday's biopsy while I am under anesthesia tomorrow. No more uncomfortable stitches to hinder me from doing more stuff! Wheeee!!!
Last week, we picked some photos for Kim's presentation. Watching those pictures, they reminded me how God sent these Angels team to our life. They not only brought us hope and also showed us God's mercy and miracles day by day. You won't believe and hard to imagine how physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist can work together to help patient like Brian if you did not see those pictures. Salute to Kim, Shelly, Amy, Katy, Lauren, Jet, ..........and many many of your team workers. You all together did a great job and benefit many families you can't calculate. You will be awarded aboundantly now and forever.
Through all your faithful prayers, God has brought Brian this far through those obstacles. We keep believing, keep hoping, keep going, keep rising up, keep pressing forward, keep enduring and keep asking because our God is always faithful to His word.
Matthew 7:7 New Living Translation (NLT) Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
(Matthew 21:22 NIV) If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your faithfulness in Brian's life. We choose to believe Your Word. We choose to trust Your promises to bring Brian total healing. We keep standing, believing, and asking because we will see Brian to receive your promise. In Jesus' name, Amen!
God bless us all,
Mark & Anita
Thanks for your prayer.
馬 太 福 音 7:7 你 們 祈 求 , 就 給 你 們 ; 尋 找 , 就 尋 見 ; 叩 門 , 就 給 你 們 開 門 。
馬 太 福 音 21:21 我 實 在 告 訴 你 們 , 你 們 若 有 信 心 , 不 疑 惑 , 不 但 能 行 無 花 果 樹 上 所 行 的 事 , 就 是 對 這 座 山 說 : 你 挪 開 此 地 , 投 在 海 裡 ! 也 必 成 就 。 22你 們 禱 告 , 無 論 求 甚 麼 , 只 要 信 , 就 必 得 著 。
親愛的天父,
感謝您在Brian 生命中的信實, 我們堅信你的話語, 信靠你的應許要帶給Brian 全人的醫治.
