Pictures, pictures with Melinda, Metthew,Auntie Jennifer, Uncle Pactrick, Bathany, Nathan, Pastor Lai, Christina, Byron, Jordan, and Jessica.......

Today is Cinco De Mayo.    No wonder Downtown LA was so crowded even in Little Tokyo.

Not a long day.   But we need to rest early for attending Pastor Wang Kang's VOH Arcadia anniversity celebration tomorrow morning.

Are you ready for tomorrow's Sunday service at church?    Don't miss it.   It's a blessing.

God bless you!

Day 165.      A little cloudy day.

Everyday Brian met many friends after 2pm. by the tree in front of school entrance.

Today he stayed longer for I spoke to Stacy regarding his Mt. Sac registration.

At the time we were going to leave, the 3pm. bell rang...........

Huey brought Brian to check it out where the orchestra room is .   We met Nick by the door of the music classrom.

Mr. Acciani was glad to see Brian and told him come to the 4th period Symphony class.    I said, "He didn't play Bass for a long time."

" He will pick it up really quick, right?    Here is the music (14 pages).   We will record it in few weeks. ", Mr. Acciani said.

" OK.   I'll try.", Brian answer..........

I called CHLA and talked to his case manager nurse Kathy after we got home.   She said, " He can add a class.    Play double bass in Orchestra is fine.    But remember he needs to eat lunch ( without raw food, raw vegi) under cover.    Don't expose under sun light."

Well, we'll figure it out how to let him attend this class. We'll see...........

Day 163.    A big dayDBHS Senior Prom night.

Brian and Vivian had watched a lot of TV shows or movies which talked about Prom.

It looks like there are many traditions to catch on.   But Brian's main purpose is to talk to old friends.

Not every single seniors came.   Only half of it showed up.

It's like a reunion to Brian.   Pictures, pictures with friends from Elementary to Middle school.   They were all so nice and glad to see him doing well.

Friendship forever.......

Thanks DBHS vice principle for offering we parents to chaperon Brian in the Prom.     It made all 3 of us feel secured and enjoyed the Prom night.

I still remembered what Dr. Chris said in clinic visit at 3 weeks ago.  He said, "There is no magic number what date he can do this or that activities.   Every kids are different.   I think Prom is important for Brian and it's ok for him to go.   We'll give him IVIG at the week of his prom day.   But remember there are risks involve.   You parents make your own decision."    Wow!    It's hard for Mark to let go.    He is rather be strict and not to risk any chance.    Until 10 days before prom, he realized something through his morning devotion with Brian.   God spoke to him through the scripture.    Daady agreed Brian to attend the Prom.    All the sudden the preparation is a hassle.   But everything is a good experience.    Every single thing happen with His purpose for our own good.    We can really enjoy everything if we "let go" and "let God".

It's an Honor to take so many pictures with Prom King and Prom Queen.   And even Brian, Mark, and I had the chance to take pictures with that sash on.   All of  that won't happen without God sending so many angels surrounding us.  Mr. Terry, Mrs. Real, Mrs. Auten, Dora, and all of Brian's friends.........   You all made our day.     An unforgettable Prom night.

Thank you very much.

God bless us all.

Today is Day 159.    3rd day of school.

Brian is more getting used to it.   Meet old friends in front of school entrance.

As a mom, I am so excetied to talk with his friends too even though the girl Grace didn't recognize me.

I still remember how the kids greeted me sweetly and called me Mrs. Liu when they were in Elementary and Middle School.

Some kids change and grow taller a lot.   Time flies.....

Tomorrow we will have clinic visit and an IVIG to boost his immune system.

Please pray for everything well.

Today is Day 157.

Brian and daddy stood in front of our VOH Church and greeted to Chinese congregations.

Brian said, " Thanks for all of your prayer for me and our family. I am doing well. And I have starated to go to school 2 days ago."

 "Yeah!!.......... "congregations replied.

" You are welcome to attend my Graduation Ceremony in Diamond Bar High School which is May 31st.", Brian said.

Yeah!!! Applause filled with the room from uncles, aunties, brothers and sisters....................

Mark said, " Every Sunday, many of you kept asking me and Anita 'how's Brian?'   Doctor had allowed him to attend church.

He came back to church  in 2nd floor English church last Sunday.   So we bring him here today to greet all of you and show our appreciation.

It's not a easy journey indeed.  Through Brian, we changed a lot and it strengthened our faith.   We all experienced God's grace day by day.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting us.   Looking at Brian, he is getting stronger in and out too. "

Pastor Kwan raised his hands to pray for Brian with congregations, " Hallelujah! Lord, we are glad to see Brian who is as same as our own child,

seeing him walked through so many difficulties with strong faith. We believe he is not only getting stronger physically but also spiritually. His

faith is big as a giant. Lord, bless his family and all the work he will do in the future will be filled with your favour and grace. No matter his

academic work in school or the work after college. His whole life is destined to be your testimony to glorify your name in peers and influence

them. Lord, grant him health and fully recovery, especially his left eye will back to be normal. Grant his both eyes thoroughly bright and have

good vision. Make his spiritual eyes brighter to read through and get more understanding from your words to help and encourage his generation.

Bring more revival. Thanks Lord. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!"

We are blessed to have this big family. We love you, VOH.

 God bless us all!

2 You have given him his heart's desire, and have not kept back the request of his lips. (Selah.)

3 For you go before him with the blessings of good things: you put a crown of fair gold on his head.

4 He made request to you for life, and you gave it to him, long life for ever and ever.

5 His glory is great in your salvation: honour and authority have you put on him.

6 For you have made him a blessing for ever: you have given him joy in the light of your face.

(詩篇 21:2-6)

4 他向你求壽,你便賜給他,就是日子長久,直到永遠。

Day 155   Another big step.

1st day in DBHS Robotic class.

Due to the STAR test this week, all the regular classes were changed to 30 minutes per period.

1:40PM. arrived school.  Gate B is still locked and no body around.   Maybe custodian is over another gate.

While we checked with attendance office, Mrs. Irving is outside the window.    Went out to meet her and walked to classroom.

Saw Mrs. Stacy walked and passed by.   Daddy said he saw them open the gate and looked around while we are in another gate.

Anyway, it's first time Brian met his GLC, Mrs. Irving, one of the nice ladies in school.

School nurse Mrs. Guest stayed over to see how he will be doing at school.    Nice!

30 minutes in class.    5 group in the class.   Kevin, Edward, Wayne,.... were in his group and Edward was talking about Yugio a lot.

After class, meet friends in front of school entrance.    There are Kimberly, Ian, Huy, and Brendon.

Willie and Vincent come over to our house to play for a while after school.  Fun!

In the evening.     1st time back to church BASIC cell group since last August.

Brian was so glad to see church friends and leaders Christina, Jessica, Jordan, and David.

" Hello everyboday!!", he called when he got in the room while most of them were working on the poster for Pastor Baldwin's Birthday........

It's a good beginning.   Everyday will be a good day.

Today is Day 153.

Meeting in DBHS with IEP team and Vice Principle Mr. John Terry.

Dr. Kapoor's note said "Brian is able to participate in school activities.  If he is outside during recess hour, he must wear sunscreen and should be allowed to wear a cap and drink additional fluids throughout the day as some of his medications require an additional amount of fluid intake."

We are so blessed to have this wonderful team to take care student's special need.

We disscussed the senior activities, such as prom, senior breakfast, graduation ceremony, and even grad night in Disneyland.

For graduation will be a long process, Mr. Natividad will lead Brian and give a cue to the big time.

For experiencing the school class, Brian will start a Robotic class this Friday at 1:00pm..

Let him try a little at a time ( just as our doctors always said).

School nurse Ms. Terry Guest takes care Brian's physical and health need.   She guided and remeinded Brian some enviroment obstacles when

Mr. Terry toured us the classroom and brought him to take a picture for Brian's student ID card.   He even gave Brian a cap with DBHS logo on it.

How nice!   We are so touched.   Thanks Mr. Terry.   You are so thoughtful and sweet.

Can you imagine how coincident it is while we tour the campus?   We met Brian's childhood buddy Kevin Camitta.

God is so delicated to arrange this reunion for Brian.   We didn't know Kevin took the Robotic class and exactly same 5th period until we met him.   WOW!   Ms. Guest told me,   " See,  he is being well protected.    HE knows.   He is in control.    You can cry now.   It will be good to cry."

As parents, it's hard for us to let go our child especially after he went through so much.

Please keep praying for us to hand our everything to our Alighty God.

Pray the protection of the enviroment where Brian presents.

God bless us all,

Dear families and friends,

It's been almost 6 months since Brian's last attendance to our church Sunday Service.

We didn't let him go to last Sunday (Easter Sunday) service.   The reasons are 1. It's too crowded for so many programs and performances.   2. Doctor has not released the permission to public yet at that time.

By God's Grace, Brian recovers really well.   Vivian's bone marrow has done great job in Brian.
All the doctors and nurses are amazed and happy to see him doing so great.
Thanks for all of your love and prayers for him.

Today is Day 150 after Bone Marrow Transplantation.    Few days ago, our case nurse Ms. Kathy told us many restrictions were off.
Doctor allowed him to go to school, prom, and many seniors' activities.    It's OK to go to church.   But mask is nessary since there are so many people in a closed enviroment and everybody are sitting so closed to each other.
It's so difficult for Mark to let go so many precaution he has set for a long time.   He always think "better to be over protected than taking risk"    Until Monday he felt God was speaking to him through his daily devotion.     He realized God's protection on all occations.
God is in control.   Then Mark started to agree Brian to attend those activities.
So, we decided to go to chuch just a night before.    It's good for Brian to wake up earlier than usual by himself.   You can tell he is so excited to meet people he missed and who prayed for him for a long time and missed him a lot too.

"From now on, I will wake up this early by myself ", Brian said.   We'll see how he prepares and diciplines himself to embrace the new world.
God has a new chapter for Brian— a chapter filled with blessings, favor and victory!

We will have a meeting with DBHS to arrange Brian's returning to school.   Please pray for everything will be successful,  Brian's strength and immune system will grow stronger day by day.

God bless us all,

" I can do everything through Him who gives me strength". ( Philippians 4:13)     VOH CAN2

Today is Day 139.    Regular clinic check up.

Dr. Chris Mahadio viewed the DBHS calender and told Brian that he is OK to attend "Prom", and all the senior activities and graduation.

"For attending school classes, we will dicuss later.   Maybe 2 weeks later.  I'll reduce the dose of tacrolimus from 1mg to 0.5mg.

Let's see how it works for you.    IVIG will be in 3 weeks before your prom."     But remember, no hugging, no kissing.    OK. Sounds good.

Today is Vivian's spring break. She came with us. Katherlyn didn't see her for a long time since BMT day.

Finished clinic, it's lunch time.  We met Kim (OT) at lobby.   She is passing by from new building to old building for her next appointment.

"Hi Brian,  I just want to give you a quick hug.  Bye!"    "But.... Doctor said ' No hugging, no kissing', though.", Brian respond.

" Whatever!", Kim waved and left.    A sweet big sister in Brian's life.   We love you, Kim.

Whenever we see her, we will expect to meet Sherry (PT) or Katy (ST).    We missed Amy (ST) too.   Wish her new life in SFO is well.

Sue and Stan's daughter, Mickey was in the lobby too.    " Great to see you doing so well, Brian."    " Thanks."

Dear families and friends,

It's been 2 weeks already.   Brian's last  clinic check-up was doing well.
We are going to have a clinic visit again this morning.    They might give him a special blood test to see how his detail immune system is growing.     We will get the regular blood result at the same day.     But the very detail test result will take 2 weeks to get it.     Please keep praying for the pleasant trip today and every blood count result will be good as usual.    And the detail immune result will be as good as God's plan.

The meeting with Brian's high school IEP team was very successful last week.   Thanks DBHS Vice Principle Mr. Terry, Mr. Natividad, Mrs. Woodward, Mrs. McCraken, and Mr. Lares to meet with us.  Also thanks Auntie Sally and Ms. LiNai to help us to get better communication.   ( Thanks Mrs. Gottilieb,  Ms. Turner, Mrs. Guest, and Mrs. Irving,  even you are not in this meeting.     Your assistance on Brian's continuing education and preparation in DBHS are very important too. )
The conclusion of this conference is ....................
Mr. Lares will be his home hospital teacher to help him prepare this high school equivalent diploma exam (CHSPE).
The CHSPE test center will send prector to our home to give him the CHSPE exam on March 17.
I officially enrolled Brian at Diamond Bar High School after the meeting. ( I also caught the last chance to buy senior Grad. cap and gown. )    And Mr. Lares started to come to our home to teach him since last Thursday.     We are so blessed to have Mr. Lares to be Brian's home teacher.   He is a very nice young man who is enthusiastic in teaching History, coaching baseball,......., and most importantly .........   He is a Christian too.   Just as my husband Mark said that he knew God's in control everything as soon as he sit down and saw the "cross" on the corner of the stage in that meeting room.     God is so dedicated to arrange every single detail to show my husband that He is taking care everything.   No wonder the conference is so pleasant.     We embraced so much loving care from all the staffs and so appreciated them.

Now we'll wait for his health recovery and doctor's further approval to release him to get more activities.      Mr. Terry said Brian can attend all the senior activities as long as our doctors agree.      Although he missed a lot of school time to enjoy lunch and classes with his senior friends in DBHS,  he is still able to attend many memorial activities with them later ( such as prom and graduation).
Please keep praying for the best timing for him to join group activities.    Of course, the health is the first priority.    Dr. Shah ever said maybe he can go to school after April or March.    But now is still too early to know.   We'll need to wait for another 2 weeks' blood result to help doctor's prediction.

All of us need time to prepare his next step.    And yes, we're sure he will have normal young and healthy life just as his friends do soon.    By Gods Grace, " I can do everything through Him who gives me strength". ( Philippians 4:13)       In Jesus' name, Amen!

God bless us all,

Mark, Anita, Brian & Vivian

Dear All,

Time flies so fast.   Today (1-4-2012) is Day 48 after transplantation.
We are at home for almost 2 weeks.  ( Discharged date was 12-22-2011).
By God's grace, we can all spend time together for Christmas and New Year holidays.
Even though we all stayed home but it's wonderful and memorable.

Brian had visited the CHLA clinic for follow up 2 times.  Today is the 3rd time clinic visit.
Thanks God again.   All the blood counts are better.
The WBC is 3.64K, HGB is 11.7, ANC 2090, and the platelet is 56K.
Yay, again.  No need to transfuse platelet.
As Brian's strength is better day by day, the counts are going toward the normal range.
Thanks for all of your prayers.  Doctor told us that we can't have any visitor at home in this criticle 100 days.
We all miss you and appreciate you a lot.
Your email or phone calls encouragement will be welcome for another half way.

Please keep praying for Brian's eyes to recover 100%.  No side effect from those medications.
And of course his whole body is healthy with 100% healing too.
And also Brian's new year resolution- grow more hair and get rid of the bunch of pills soon.

May God bless you all an abundant year 2012.

Love in Christ,

Mark, Anita, Brian & Vivian

Dear all,

I didn't write to you often as before since my son Brian posted his daily report ( journal) on Facebook and his blog.
You may link to it daily to find out the most update.  http://gripoffaith.pixnet.net/blog
Today is day 14th of this 2nd round chemo.  Praise Lord!  Brian has good appetite, just feels tired and sleeps a lot.
His blood count (WBC) is the lowest now due to the chemo therapy.  It normally take another 1 to 2 weeks.
Gradually the count will grow and recover.
Please keep praying for God's protection to guard him free of any infection.
We will have a BMT meeting next Friday.  The bone-marrow transplant will start around Oct. after his blood count recovery.
We all need your prayer to support us all the time.
Please keep encouraging Brian and Vivian to walk through this procedure.
Brian is a fighter, a mighty warrior and our daughter is his angel who is sent from God to bring him new and long life.

As a Christian, we all know God has special plan for each one of us.  We just simply put our faith, and fix our eyes in Him.
He will lead us to walk through all difficulty.
We met a boy name Jake, 11 years old, who is found relapsed on Jun. this summer after 2 years remission.
He got fungal infection few weeks ago.  After treatment, he is doing better.  Today, they will give him MRI to check his inner body to know the detail progress.  Please pray for Jake.  Pray the MRI result will show God's total healing on Jake.
AlsoPray for his bone-marrow donor.  May God assigns a best matching one for Jake to live a long life.

James 5 [NIV] The Prayer of Faith
13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.
14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.
If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

 16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Please keep raising your hands to pray for us for it's powerful and effective.  In Jesus' name, Amen.
