Dear all,

Today is day-3 to BMT day0. Brian got a stronger Chemo this noon.

  Please keep praying for Brian to walk through all the procedures smoothly and successfully.
Pray for vivian, mommy and daddy stay healthy to take good care of Brian.
We are strong and courageous in the Lord.

Since he felt nauseated yesterday, it continued to make him feeling dizzy and weak.
Thanks God, this experienced medical team watched him closely. The doctors, the nurses, they worked very hard to help him get rid of all the side effects and symptom. Even it's tough, especially when uncle Ching and auntie Helen was visiting. Holy Spirit calls them to come at the exactly chemo time.
They saw him went through those rough moment with so many doctors and nurses in room. They prayed for him through the window, but he was too sick to open his eyes to respond them. Auntie Helen couldn't help to drip down her tears. We know she loves Brian so much.

Thanks for your prayer. He felt better around 5:00pm. He ate banana and some chicken noodle soup.    And he feels hunger again now at 8:00pm.
May the nausea goes away to let him enjoy anther regular food day.
To him, food is very important especially he won't allow to eat many his favourite fruits and food for a long time after transplantation.
Thanks Pastor Patricia (from H Rock church) came to visit and pray for Brian with the intercom.

Please keep praying for Brian to walk through all the procedures smoothly and successfully.
Pray for vivian, mommy and daddy stay healthy to take good care of Brian.
We are strong and courageous in the Lord.
                                                                                    You all are as Moses, Alan, and Hur.  Please keep raising your hands to pray for us.  Very appreciate.

God bless us all,

Mark, Anita, Brian & Vivian

Today is day -5 of treatment, and I'm starting to feel the effects of the chemotherapy, though I'm still eating. The effects of chemo have started to kick in today. I didn't feel hungry at all today, and if you know me, that's not normal. What's more, my intake does not match my output.
Trivia: Chemotherapy makes your intestines to work slower and causes them to take in too much water, which results in hard and dry poop. It is not fun.
Another side effect of chemo (at least for me) is dizziness/unbalancedness. Walking is has become a minor issue for me now. Every small turn, and every small movement, requires slow and precise movement to get the job done.
Please pray for that, my balance, and for my (Cough) bowel movements to be easier.
Today I exercised on the exercise bike for an hour and a half. Most people lose weight when they're in the hospital, but I guess I'm of the rare few who actually gain weight. :/

Dear families & friends,

Thanks for your prayer.Today is the 3rd day of Chemo.  It's Day-5 to BMT day (day 0, 11/17 Thursday).

Brian is doing well.  He has good appetite, eats and sleeps well.  Just feel tired, though.  Good thing is they prepare a bike for him to exercise in the room.

He slept until Josiah and Joshua came around 10:30am.  Then Chris and Ivy came.  They all came to donate blood and platellet for Vivian and Brian.  I know there are some friends came and we might not know yet.  I met Katherin yesterdyay.  And Dr. Florence (Brian's former resident pediatrician) is the 1st one who came to donate the blood for Vivain.  How sweet!  Thank you all.

We are so blessed to have you all around to support.  Vivian appreciates your love even though there is weight requirement for her teacher Mrs. Gonzalo and Auntie Sharon.   I think there should be enough blood already for Vivian.  Auntie Esther, thank you for your love too although you can't make it due to UTD retreat.

We found out it's OK to visit without the 6 visitors limit.   It looks like to visit zoo with the window view. You can talk in person to Brian (with speaker phone) just like Josiah and Chris did.

We had funny pictures taken with tricks too.  It's happy to make every daily life fun and special.   Thanks God for giving us the telant to entertain each other.  You brighten our life.......... .   If you really want to see Brian, you are welcome to visit this way.  But still make sure you are healthy to visit.  There are still a lot of kids need to be protected in the hospital too.

Brian's liver enzyme is 116 today.  It's lower day by day toward the normal (35 U/L) range.Keep praying and praising.   There are many number they are looking, not just this one.  They have better whole picture to watch over through many different kind of labs all the time.   They detected a kind of virus (CMV) and theyadjusted and started medicine to it.   The only thing we can do is just pray hard and ask God to lead this medical team to help Brian with wisdom.    We let go and let God.

Let's pray for:

1. The chemo successfully just supresses the system it needs to get ready for BMT(bone marrow transplant)     without side effect.

2. God's protection for all of Brian's organs to stay in good condition in between and after BMT.

3. All the procedures will run smoothly and successfully.

4. God's protection (form now, between and after BMT) on Vivian too.   The anesthesia and bone marrow    harvest  procedure will suceed without side effect to her.  Let her stay healthy all the time.

5. Mark and I stay healthy and have good time arrangement and relationship in between 2 kids and us.

6. Let all of us including you, our prayer warriors, be strong and courageous in the Lord Jesus Christ.

7. The BMT will successfully transform Brian to be a brand new healthy young man.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

  in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

  Psalms 121

  1. I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from?
  2. My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
  3. He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber;
  4. indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
  5. The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

  the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
  1. The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life;
  2. the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

In Jesus Holy name we pray, Aman.  God bless us all,

I should really thank God for sending me Christian nurses every day and night. These few days have been pretty peaceful though. I haven't had any feelings of nausea, so I guess I have only God to thank for that. All the people who pray for me, you are doing your job well. :D:D
Well, today the lab report showed that my liver enzymes have gone down a bit, but not back to normal counts. Please pray that it goes back down to normal numbers. Also, the lab reports showed that there is a virus that somehow bypassed the system, but because they discovered it early, it hasn't had the chance to do anything. So please pray that this problem is dealt with quickly so that it doesn't develop into a major problem.

Well, chemo started this morning, and so far, so good. Who knows, maybe this time chemo won't cause any side effects?
~~~Devotions~~~
In the times of the book of Leviticus, there are the 7 days of purification, which is very similar to my treatment days -7 to -1. Then there's the day after that, when the priest offers sacrifices, which could be synonymous with the day when the transplant takes place. But on the first day, the person with the skin disease is declared clean and is healed of the defiling skin disease. What this means for me, however, is that the day my chemo finished, I was healed of leukemia. Even the shaving of the head, which symbolized cleanliness in Old Testament times, was used used. It's as if God originally planned for these passages in Leviticus to relate to my situation. The Big Guy Upstairs is making plans for me! :3
Dear all,
Thank you for our prayer.   We check in CHLA yesterday.  Everything is going well.
CHLA BMT unit is very nice and cosiderate.  They assigned a quiet, private room for Brian.
(Normally the room is one entrance door to 2 seperate room.  There might have a baby or toddler next door.
Thanks God!  He won't be irratated by noise, though.)
 The chemo will start tomorrow early in the morning 4:00am. for 6 days.
Please pray for the successful and smooth process for this chemo without side effect, without infection.
May God keep protecting Brian's all organ especially his liver in good function.
Let the chemo drug only depresses the system what it needs to prepare for transplant.
URGENT need A or O type blood for Vivian...........
The harvest day is 11/17 next Thursday.  We need blood for Vivian after that procedure.
If you are blood type A+ (the best), A-,O+,O-.  Please call me to let me know.  Or call Sophia
Please pray for Vivain with good health to donate the bone marrow.  And the procedure will go smoothly for her.
Thanks God to make her as a hero to her brother.  How great to have life so meaningful!
Well, I'm happy to say that my move-in has gone extraordinarily well- but hey, what do you expect? I've pretty much been in and out of the hospital this year. After today, we go to war, my friends; a war with cancer. Chemo starts tomorrow morning at four in the morning, and another dose will be given every six hours until the day before transplant, when I'll get a day off. My sister, Vivian, once ⋯⋯said that since December's events, I'm like a newborn baby, requiring the utmost care of my parents. Well, I took that the same way one might take a baptism, being born again and whatnot. It's actually quite comforting to know that, even in the midst of all this chaos, God still sets aside a place where I can be at peace with my life. The promise that God gave to Abraham, he has also given to me.
Dear families and friends,
Cast all your worries to Him.  He is God.  He can change water to be wine.   He can remove the stumbling block away.
All things happen with purpose.
Today's surgery plan was dramatically changed and cancelled.  The bump had shrunk a lot since last Friday (it's the day they order the surgery procedure to biopsy and maybe remove the bump).   Last Friday night I prayed:  " Dear God, please let this bump getting smaller.  Let doctor couldn't find or feel it and tell us " no need surgery, you may go home."
I almsot forget this.   Because I had concerned about the healing time and possible infection.  From Friday to Sunday, even Monday, I tried to convince the doctors and nurses who can help not to do the surgery.  They all agree to do this biopsy.
Until this noon, we prayed on the phone with dear sister Julia, and she pray " Dear God, please remove all the unnecessay procedure which are not in your plan.  Block it an change it........."
After our prayer, the surgery attanding Dr. Shin came in.  She checked Brian's bump.  There is no pain, and it was shrunk a lot.
She does not even feel it.   She call the BMT Dr. Kapoor to cancel this  surgery.   Hallelujah!  It happened just as the picture we pray for.   Praise the Lord!   He used this bump story to let us know.  He is in control.  Don't worry about it.  And most important thing is -- never quitting your prayer until it is exactly fulfilled.
Well, this side track was adjusted to the right track.   The BMT team asked us to admit tomorrow ( Tuesday 11/8).
That means our comfy sweet home time will be temporarily paused.
The strong chemo (depress all the bone marrow system) will be started on Wednesday (11/9) for 6 days( Day-7 to Day-2).  Then rest a day (Day-1).  The harvest day will be Thursday 11/17 ( Day 0).   The new bone marrow will grow in
 2 to 4 weeks.
He will stay in the isolation room from admitting till the system is stable.   Generally, it takes 6 weeks or longer, depends on kids condition.
Just as the clip Brian recorded 2 months ago for VOH.  He said he is like Joshua, and all of you just like Moses, Alan and Hur.
Please keep praying for him.  We all need your prayer to support us spiritually to go through conquerly and go into the
Promised Land.   Please pray much harder from now on for Brian and Vivian, and all of us.
God bless us all,
Mark, Anita, Brian & Vivian
Thanks for your prayer.
The lab for his liver ALK is better 184 yesterday.  It was closed to their acceptable range.
They might think of start BMT soon.
But one thing, it's kind of side track before BMT.
There is a bump on Brian's right thigh.  It might caused by hitting the sink accidentally at 2 weeks ago in the hospital.
Since there is no bruise color and the small size 12x11x7 mm.,it is difficult to evaluate by MRI.
For not being worried about it, they decided to do a little surgery and biopsy to find out what it is.
The time is Monday 1:00pm.
Please pray for the procedure safe and successful.  And the result will be nothing wrong with it.
Also please keep praying for God's protection on Brian's liver.  Let the ALT goes down to normal range soon.
God bless us all,
Mark, Anita, Brian & Vivian
