You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow,
Say this: "God, you're my refuge.
I trust in you and I'm safe!"
That's right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you're perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God's your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can't get close to you,
harm can't get through the door.
He ordered his angels
to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they'll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling.
You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
14-16 "If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God,
"I'll get you out of any trouble.
I'll give you the best of care
if you'll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I'll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I'll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!"
Lord, we thank you, because you have chosen Brian to dwell in your shelter and rest in your shadow. In this time of sickness, we pray that you will protect his spirit.
Lord, thank you for covering him with your wings of love and protection. Lord, we praise you because you are Brian’s hiding place, refuge, and fortress. You aren’t just God, you’re his God.
Past, present, and forever, you are the God on which he can depend on. Lord, we praise you because through your great power you free Brian from the fowler’s snare and seize him from the plague of leukemia.
You cover him with your mighty wings, Lord, and we praise you with joy and confidence. We believe that even now you are a shield blocking the public threats and private attacks against Brian, and that he does not need to be afraid.
Lord, we thank you, because of your love and faithfulness. We believe that even as this trial occurs, it will not go near Brian. We believe that Brian will see the leukemia cells vanish right before his eyes, because he stands within your glorious will—because he acknowledges your name.
Lord, we declare that Brian’s hospital bed is your throne. Lord, we proclaim that it is Jehovah’s tent and that it is surrounded by your angels. As Brian goes through each treatment, and as the doctors make each decision, your presence is there.
It’s all in your hands, Lord, your hands are even now pointing at Brian, and your angels are already lifting Brian up in their hands.
Lord, because Brian loves you, you will rescue him. You will protect him, because he acknowledges your name. You will set him on higher ground. Lord, we pray that you will lead him to walk in your glory.
Lord, you want more than just health for Brian, you want to honor him with a life befitting a son of the King of Kings—a royal and dignified life.
Thank you for your promises of long life and salvation. May his testimony reach many and touch many with your saving grace, and may we all, together with him, experience the power of your salvation.
In the name of Jesus Christ, may God fulfill his Holy Word right before our eyes,
Amen.
